Cash and cash equivalents are the gift of choice for most donors, either as an annual gift or pledged over a period of several years.

Matching Gifts

Thousands of corporations and businesses now have programs to match employee gifts either in whole or in part.

Gifts of Securities

Next to cash, appreciated stocks and bonds are the most popular assets donated to SC State University by alumni and friends.

Planned Giving

Carefully planned gifts can offer significant estate tax and income benefits while at the same time allowing donors to make more significant gifts to the University .

Gifts of Real Property

You may contribute real property to the University, either as a bequest or, more commonly, by a lifetime transfer, and realize significant tax benefits.

The Thomas E. Miller Society

Named in honor of Thomas Ezekiel Miller, the first president of the Colored, Normal, Industrial, Agricultural and Mechanical College of South Carolina, the founding name of SC State University, the Miller Society recognizes cumulative philanthropy from individuals, couples, organizations, associations, corporations, and foundations who demonstrate commitment to the university and higher education by sharing their resources.

These prestigious donors are recognized during a special event that includes an induction and pinning ceremony and the presentation of a custom engraved crystal obelisk.

The support that comes from the cumulative philanthropy ensures that SC State University continues to provide educational opportunities to deserving and qualified students. By committing to membership in the Miller Society, you make a difference in the future success of an SC State University student.
